For those individuals who are not Medicare eligible and do not have group insurance available, major medical insurance through the Affordable Care Act is available. The ACA plans do not have medical underwriting, meaning you are guaranteed to qualify for the plan. If you are enrolling outside of the Open Enrollment Period, which is at the end of each year, you must have a qualifying reason, such as loss of group coverage.
Short Term Medical
These plans are similar to major medical, but are offered for shorter durations: 3, 6, or 9 months. In order to purchase a short term plan you must qualify medically and can be turned down for coverage based on pre-existing conditions. This option may not be appropriate for you and your situation.
We can help you wade through the options and enroll in a plan that will fit your needs and budget.
